13.30 p.m.-15 p.m.

On February 10, Ambassador Taylor will donate microfilmed copies of Despatches from United States Consuls in Odessa, 1831-1906 to the Central State Historical Archive of Ukraine in Kyiv. The 7 rolls of this microcopy reproduce 13 volumes of correspondence that are mainly despatches addressed to the Department of State by U.S. consular officials in Odesa between May, 1831, and August 14, 1906. The records reproduced in this microcopy are part of the records in the National Archives in Washington, D.C. Many documents report on the wool trade between Russia and the United States. Other subjects to which the despatches relate are the Crimean War and the bombardment of Odesa, the riots in 1903 and 1905, the legal status of Russian Jews, and the mutiny of the Black Sea fleet, 1905.

The same microcopy was donated to Odesa Region State Archives in 2004. Now this microcopy will expand collections of the Central State Historical Archive of Ukraine in Kyiv and will serve as a unique historical source for Ukrainian researchers of the U.S. - Ukrainian relations, history of diplomacy, and variety of other subjects.
